“I have several places where I work. And this happened at one of them. I haven’t been there for a long time. But we checked and found,” – said Zaluzhny.
After the wiretap was discovered, the SBU was notified about it. The Security Service of Ukraine opened a criminal case under the article “illegal acquisition, sale or use of special technical means of obtaining information”. The device was sent for examination.
The SBU also reported that the wiretap did not work. In the device was not found a transmission channel or an element for data storage.
Journalist Butusov specified that the microphone was located under the table. He also wrote that as part of the investigation, all employees who had access to the offices of the General Staff of the AFU are being tested on a polygraph.
Not the first leak
Commenting on the news about the discovery of wiretaps, former deputy defence minister of Ukraine Anna Malyar said that leaks of classified information from military headquarters happen. According to her, military secrets have become public more than once.
Malyar explained that everyone in Ukraine is aware of the probability of wiretapping and information leaks, so this should always be taken into account when communicating.
Later, the former deputy defence minister hinted that Ukraine’s special services could have been monitoring Zaluzhny.
According to Malyar, one of the peculiarities of working in responsible government positions is the lack of presumption of trust.
“This is a priori work under constant control, because it is a matter of state security,” the former official wrote in her Telegram channel.
